Snowman’s Big Job is one of my favorite winter themed books to use in therapy!
I had so much fun using this book with my preschool groups last week to learn about community helpers.
First, we read the book and talked about the different clothes each community helper wears. I also used the book to address answering wh- questions. Then, each child got to choose a job for their snowman and work on a coloring sheet. I used this craft time to drill artic and practice making requests (i.e. “I want blue please.”). Last, I used the community helper cards with a sensory bin. When a card was found, preschoolers were encouraged to use the phrase “I see (i.e. policeman).”
